Skill Practice That Engages The Student

I like to say that there is much more to utilizing technology in the classroom besides "Drill and Practice", but there is some time when certain skills can be practiced much more efficiently for the student when the multimedia benefits of the computer are available. Some of these websites even have Teaching and Review Modes that make them even more effective.

Having each student go to the computer for a practice session with a task in hand, such as "Today you should practice the sevens family of the  Multiplication Facts", provides a purpose for learning, much more than allowing students to simply choose a game to play. If time permits, after a session at the computer, the student should "debrief" with the class or teacher, in written or oral form, what he/she has learned during the Practice Session.

The following websites will serve your students well when time for "drill and practice" is needed:

Math

Language Arts
